An experienced social entrepreneur and impact investor, Robert “Bo” Parfet lives just outside of Denver, Colorado, in Boulder. Actively involved with The Explorers Club, Robert “Bo” Parfet negotiated a partnership with The Kellogg School of Management that brings seasoned explorers to campus to talk about leadership lessons. The Explorers Club continues to encourage exploration even during social distancing with unique opportunities like virtual dives.

In June, The Explorers Club partnered with The Hydrous as part of World Oceans Week to stream a dive of the Palau coral reefs. The experience included live narration from expert marine scientists and ocean advocates as they explored the threatened coral ecosystem. The live dive was designed to be viewed with a headset that can truly immerse individuals in the experience, but viewers were also welcome to watch it on a range of other devices.

The dive helped kick of the Decade of Ocean Empathy initiative and helped people feel intimately connected to the ocean, whether or not they had personal diving experience. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see what similar socially distanced opportunities The Explorers Club offers.
